The Book Shabanu is interesting. It gives a good description of desert life.
Shabanu is 11 years old at the begining of the book and she is already promised in marriage. Her sister Phulan is getting married in less than a year. When all the preparations for marriage (like the dowry) are finished a death turns all the plans upside down.
I thought the book was great. It got a bit sad towards the end, but everything was going to be ok.
